Labour Force

Woodstock's labour force, grown from an agricultural background, remains focused on manufacturing, assembly, and related services. Woodstock has increasingly established itself as a regional commercial centre and is the County seat for government. These features are apparent in labour force statistics for the City. Many of Woodstock's skilled workers have grown up in the region and continue a tradition of skilled trades. The workforce is well educated, with 62 percent of the population having completed secondary school education or higher. Employers and workers both benefit from close ties to Fanshawe College and Conestoga College, each with campuses in the area. Both colleges collaborate with local business and industry to develop courses and contract training that meets their existing and future needs.
